The Australian National Institute of Complementary Medicine estimates that 2 in 3 Australians annually using traditional Chinese medicine and about half use TCM to prevent or control chronic diseases, national health priorities.
The MTC is used in Australia since 1840 , when the first wave of Chinese migration , but only in the eighties courses in traditional medicine began to be accredited by the educational authorities, in the nineties , MT programs came to universities.
In 1993 he established the Australian Council of TCM Education Inc. having with main objective approve and/or endorse higher education programs in TCM.
NEW HEALTH PROFESSIONS
The state of Victoria, in 2002, issued laws on TCM and the Council of Australian Governments decided in 2008 to establish a single National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for health professionals .
In July 2012, four new jobs were created in health, including the health professionals' aboriginal ( bush medicine ) and TCM professionals such as acupuncturists and herbalists Chinese medicine that can legally make diagnoses and recommend treatments.
INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
In 2010 there were 5,000 physicians and 3,000 drugstores MTC Chinese medicine.
MTC courses are offered in many institutions of higher education and the University of Adelaide researchers are trying to understand how the MTC affects the body in an effort to integrate with Western medicine .
The only awards MTC granted by the Chinese Government , the International Award for contribution to Chinese Medicine , this year was delivered through the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies , the director of the National Institute of Complementary Medicine in Australia, Professor Alan Bensoussan.
