WHO Traditional Medicine Global Library

WHO supporting traditional medicine integration

Integrative medicine, according to the WHO, is an interdisciplinary, evidence-based approach to health and well-being that utilizes a combination of biomedical and traditional and/or complementary medical knowledge, skills, and practices.

Integrative medicine does not mean the appropriation of Traditional and Complementary Medicines by modern Western medicine and its practitioners.

The World Health Organization will launch WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine in New Delhi, India, the world’s most comprehensive digital knowledge repository for traditional, complementary and integrative medicine: The Traditional Medicine Global Library (TMGL).

Traditional medicine has often been underrepresented in scientific and policy discussions.

The TMGL collecting, preserving and sharing diverse sources of information on traditional, complementary and integrative medicine from different knowledge bases on a global scale, and ensuring equitable access, it aims to support learning and decision-making processes.

TMGL's Evidence Maps collection, "Interventions for Clinical and Health Conditions," will include mind-body therapies.
